Defense Minister of that time, Mr. V. K. Krishna Menon started the Sainik school in 1961 with the purpose that students of different regions and cultures could join Indians’ defense.

The focused education and different training help the student do well in many competitive examinations especially National Defense Academy (NDA) and different military & defense jobs to serve the country.

To get admission to Sainik schools, students have to go through a special exam. For that, the students need to meet a few criteria & also have to pass an entrance exam. Let’s understand:

  1. Age Eligibility: There is an age cutoff, i.e. for 6th grade, the age must be between 10 and 12 years old & for 9th grade, the age must be between 13 and 15 years old.
  2. Registration: Complete the Registration process online on the official website of the National Testing Agency (NTA) or the Sainik Schools Society. Students need to upload personal & academic documents. Also, fill in the accurate and correct information. Normally it opens in October or November.
  3. Application Fee: As per the category of the candidate, they need to pay an application fee, of Rs 650 for the general category and Rs 500 for SC/ST candidates ( check on the official site ).
  4. Exam Preparation: Candidates need to prepare for the All India Sainik Schools Entrance Examination (AISSEE). The tests for Class 6 include subjects like Mathematics, General Knowledge & Intelligence, and Language & Class 9 includes subjects like Mathematics, Intelligence, English, General Science, and Social Studies.
  5. Entrance Exam: The exam is usually conducted in January. Download the admit card from the official portal.
  6. Results and Further Process: Once the result is announced, the successful have to go through a medical examination, interview & document check.
  7. Final Admission: Final Admission is based on merit list & reservation policy.

Sainik School

Sainik Schools are aimed to train and educate children to become disciplined leaders and join the Indian army. Now who is eligible for Sainik School for 6th or 9th grade

Age: Children aged of 10-12 years can join 6th grade & 13-15 years can join 9th grade.
Country: Only Indian nationals can get admission.
Schooling: For admission in the 9th grade, the candidate has to pass 8th grade from a recognized school.
Home State Reservation: Some seats might be reserved for candidates from the same state where the Sainik School is based.
Reserved Seat: Some seats are reserved for children of parents who are in the military or work for the government.
Scholarship: There is a scholarship for those candidates who are good in academics.

Sainik School

Sainik Schools helps the children to grow in all areas, i.e. mentally and physically, and education to become leaders and also prepare to join in Indian Army. The school follows the CBSC/ State Board syllabus, syllabus. The tough teaching and hard physical education help the student in overall growth.
The day starts with a morning prayer and national anthem. After the class starts. They teach subjects as per the CBSC/ State Board syllabus like Math, Science, Computers, Biology, Languages, etc. There is a group discussion among the students on general as well as current topics.
There a rigorous physical training that includes some skills like firefighting, first aid, and self-defense. Also, sports, drills, and other physical training help them in overall mental & physical growth.
